She was raised in rural Illinois by project-oriented parents — a painter mother and a carpenter father. She studied Art and Art History in college but found her passion for drawing in early childhood. (a collection of horrifying juvenalia)

She is also a Hollywood hyphenate, an actor-writer-filmmaker.

Rachel hosts a watercolor fight club. She loves trees, animals, and Thich Nhat Hanh (who doesn’t?). And she once spent years on an emo photo essay project —  hundreds of photos of abandoned shopping carts, for a quickly abandoned Tumbler.

Her sister is also an artist.
